What should be extremely worrisome for us Indians is the effect this unabashed propaganda machine has had on India’s younger generation. A third year college student, Vanshri Randive, as reported in TOI, eulogized Narendra Modi with the following words in BJP’s Mumbai Rally on 22nd December, 2013:
“We need him. We need dictatorship in India. He is a dictator who can fight corruption and lack of unity and discipline in the country”
This blind belief that Modi can fight corruption despite Modi shielding his own minister from prosecution in Fisheries Scam, despite Modi not appointing a Lokayukt for over 10 years, are surely the signs of creeping fascism of Modi and his mentor organization RSS.
Let us hope that in May 2014, when we “Vote for India” as Modi wants us to, we also vote out fascism to keep alive the sovereign, socialist, secular, democratic republic of India.
