The hypocrisy of Muslim intellectuals Empty The hypocrisy of Muslim intellectuals

"The acceptable way for religious conversion is simple: if an adult reflects on the faith he has been born into and feels intellectually compelled to adopt another faith, he has all the protection in the Constitution to exercise his free choice.

"But there is another method of conversion: for social reasons or for a common cause, a large group of people makes up its mind to defect from one religion to another."

This cannot be called religious conversion.

The Maulana settled the debate two generations ago. How would his reasoning be received by both sides today?

>>> When it comes to religious conversions, Muslim intellectuals like Mr. Naqvi practice double-standards and double-talk.

One of the reasons why there is no defection from Islam to any other religion is simply because it is criminal according to Sharia for a Muslim to renounce Islam. A Muslim living in an Islamic country who even dares to question Islam is going to be severely punished or even killed. In India, a Muslim apostate will either be killed severely ostracized by his own community.
