azhwar pasurams aka tamil vedam
here is nammazhwar's thiruvaimozhi recited in the usual way it is in vaishnavite temples in TN. i find it really focuses the mind like nothing else. it's a really cleansing experience to get up very early in the morning and listen to this on the headphones in absolute stillness. the rhythm inherent in the poetry is quite lovely even if you don't understand one word of tamil. the pasurams were compiled in the 12th century or thereabouts by a person called nAthamuni. you can hear his foreword to the thiruvAimozhi at about the 0.57 mark where he proclaims it to be part of the tamil vedam.
there is a commentary in english if anyone is interested: https://archive.org/details/Thiruvaimozhi_english_commentry
in the fourth stanza nammAzhwar gives a succinct view of visishtadvaita philosophy. i am not that well educated in all this but here is the poem and the commentary from the website above:
NAm avan ivan uvan, avaL ,ivaL uvaL evaL,
TAm avar ivar uvar, atu itu utu etu,
Vim avai ivai uvai, avai nalam, tinku avai,
Am avai, ayavai, ayninra avarE.

We, the masculine beings over here, as well as those at a distance,
near at hand and in.between, the feminine species similarly
situated, all things collectively seen here, there and everywhere,
what can be individually pointed out as this, that and the other-,
the non-sentient beings, good, bad, perishable and imperishable,
things that were, are and will be, all these subsist in Him. (In
other words, all these are sustained, directed and controlled
by him.

Ya. Perfect. I just switched on my amplified speakers/stereo connected to my PC in my office room. Wife thought something happened to me and I might have started reciting these !
