TN releases all three Rajiv Killers

....According to PTI, the decision was taken at an emergent cabinet meeting chaired by Jayalalithaa and announced in the state assembly.

Political one-upmanship is thumping its nose at the Indian Judiciary and Indian federal structure. This is disastrous.

Even before the ink on the Supreme Court verdict dries, politicians had begun demanding that the killers be set free. Now J Jayalalithaa's government has obliged on the basis of an “arbitrary, whimsical and capricious” political judgment before an election. Soon they will be out and we will have convicted killers being treated like heroes and writing books to make money out of it. One should ask what the families of the 17 people killed along with Rajiv Gandhi will think about this. Will they think there is justice done?

But a measure of how emotive the Sri Lankan Tamil issue still is in Tamil Nadu (TN), and how much of an electoral hot potato, could be gauged by the reaction of finance minister P Chidambaram, a Tamilian, who said that he was "not unhappy" with the decision.

Look at what PC said. He was "not unhappy?" What does that mean?

This asshole has no business of criticizing Modi about Godhra riots.

I wonder what Sonia is thinking now. She essentially sold herself out when she made alliance with MK.

JJ might have done this to outwit MK knowing fully well, the center would never let these guys out.

Also PC may be referring to the death to life conversion. He would not dare to support JJ decision - MT Soniamata ji would have fired him long back.

Chidambaram is the worst kind of hypocrite. He walked out of Congress when PVN couldn't really ally with DMK and chose the only other alternative, JJ. How could PVN ally with LTTE connected DMK. And congress withdrew support to Gowda because he couldn't take action on DMK as per their demand. And the same congress was bhai-bhai with DMK in the previous governments. And Chidambaram didn't have any scruples in sharing power with DMK.
