Is rahul Gandhi maturing?

Rahul Gandhi is taking active role in UP politics.
Rahul is going to villages and spending time with villagers.
Rahul is taking time to kick the old guy out of PM's chair.

I think he is on right track. His current path may help his eventual coronation seem more natural. Some easily impressed propagandists may even claim that he is a genuine people's champion.

I have no illusions about his ability to learn or his true intentions. However, Rahul's efforts to learn the ropes of Indian politics will also teach him the limitations of his easily derived power. Since his rise to power is set to happen anyway, it is good that he learns few political tricks to minimize his mistakes running the country.

Except the citizenship and his original passport questions will become issues again...for the half Italian and half muslim matured an (hoping by then he will be).

Are you suggesting that Subramanya swamy's argument that Rahul is an italian citizen by birth and dual citizenship is not allowed in India? Supreme Court already upheld Sonia Gandhis citizenship. I doubt Rahul's citizenship would even be an issue. I am sure even BJP will find it a useful political topic.

Rahul's problems are his lack of understanding of Indian context because of his growing up. He also does not seem to be the brightest of Gandhis( which is not saying much). When intractable problems are faced, he needs some cultural or intellectual background to fall back and frame the issues and find solutions. Those who depend on their coterie to help will fall on their own sword sooner than later.

However, Rahul is following a sensible path to take the reins of power. His involvement in UP is good for his image.

The main problem with him is his mediocrity. He will be a George W Bush type leader, who achieved his position primarily because of the family he was born into. In addition, he has a dishonest streak -- think false claims about having successfully obtained an M.Phil. from Cambridge, when he flunked in reality. Like his father before him, he went through a series of elite institutions, failing to distinguish himself in any of them.

It is an issue. Swamy - for all his reputation as a crackpot - is a highly learned man who knows how to do research. The guy is not a Dicvijay. His claims and arguments are often out of reach of commoners and comes across as outlandish. But, the legal community and the politcos know Swamy is a crackpot - but a Genius nevertheless.

1. Rahul automatically CAN get Indian citizenship since Rajiv was an Indian.

2. But, did his mom get Rahul an Italian citizenship via a passport FIRST when he was born. He sure must have traveled abroad as a child, boy, youth.

3. If he did fine...but if he had received his first Indian passport after he turned 18, then did he renounce his italian passport/citzenship in writing? If he did not, then his Indian passport is subject to legal controversies.

4. There was no question about Sonia's indian citizenship but only that she voted illegally before getting one. In that case, her citizenship was obtained by deceit. The best is not to rock the boat and not raise the question while she not demand PMship. She was desperate for the Gaadi until the morning when Madam Mohan SIngh was nominated.

Questions..quesitons...more questions. Best way to silence these.....come clean and publish the first Indian passport pages/details.

I am not arguing with the feacts here. What I am saying is that it is politically untenable situation to argue Rahul is not Indian as Indians have seen him grow up from a very early age. It may make the proponent of such theory look silly and shrill.

However an Individual who does not care about public opinion can move courts. I think courts may find a way to squash this theory.

Speaking of Passport pages, Indian Jurnos have not even established whether Rahul ever got a degree any where (Harvard or UK). The Jurno could not even report on Rahul's girlfriend status and they watch his house 24 hours. Money, threats, favors and incompetence, whatever, Indian Jurnos are not capable of peeking into the inside of the most famous house in India.

more like he now knows how to show off. his tactics did not work at all in bihar and i don't see any different results in UP.
