Several mini capitals for SA
Of course, political capital, police capital, high court etc., could be distributed too. Now that they are starting with a fresh slate any new ideas should be welcomed instead of sticking to the old setup of a one capital city for a state.

Looks like CONmen are sending out feelers. I also read that the cabinet yesterday was discussing the names of Tirupati, Kurnool, Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam as candidates for the capital.
Apparently, National Institute of Design which was supposed to be placed in Hyderabad, is now granted to Vijayawada. They also sanctioned 3 Kendriya Vidyalayas (National Schools?) for AP (in Kadapa, Guntur and E Godavari districts).

I am for distributed economic activity for balanced human potential development.
But cynical alarms should blast when congress brings any new proposal before election. is it doing so it can lure voters of multiple towns or areas.
as a new state with an absence of central institutions and heavy industry with the exception of vizag ,and absence of a metropolitan city of national status, seemandhra could use a center for investment attraction.

Re: Several mini capitals for SA
That's how it's going to pan out. See what happened to IITs. Originally the govt wanted to establish IITs in non-metro areas. Warangal was dropped because of the blatant stupidity of Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy (he wanted money for the land), B.C. Roy (the Bengal CM then) jumped at the opportunity and offered Kharagpur with unlimited land for the institute. And then the politicians did not want these nice things going to cattle class (as Tharoor would put it), and Bombay, Delhi, Madras, and Kanpur were selected. Indian politicians are enamored of big cities, because, it's more votes, more money because Industry would like to move there too (which means cuts), etc.

Le them do it for votes. Nothing wrong in it as long as people benefit from the game. Hopefully, CONbee is thinking that by giving sops to each town in AP, her moronic son will get 25 MPs and all towns in SA get something out of it. Why should we object? Hopefully, she will build AIIMS in my village LOL.truthbetold wrote:I am for distributed economic activity for balanced human potential development.

Congress is aware that its time is limited. It is not required to deliver any money or promise. So it will promise to just use it as a publicity stunt. It is going to be the problem of next govt which is almost certainly a non congress govt.
Any one who is expecting actual money from center is living in a illusionary world. Center will not give any serious money to Seemandhra. AP was one of the top five revenue generating states in the country. India does not have the depth to give money to one of its top states. They will probably give 10% of the promised money and wiggle it out of all promises.
They have not delivered many of the promises made to even low income states like Chattisgarh and Jharkand. This is not said in anger. It is the indian reality.

Obviously, that will be the argument by CBN in 2014 election. He already said that building the capital should be left to the next govt. He apparently wants the president to sit on the bill until the legal cases in SC are settled (however, being a CONman he won't do that).truthbetold wrote:Congress is aware that its time is limited. AP minus Hyderabad is not a top 5 revenue generating state. May be Telangana will be.
