According to this report in the Indian Express, the girl was not admitted to the Lala Lajpat Rai Hospital for over seven hours, despite lying in pain on a stretcher outside the OPD. The girl was admitted only after protests by her parents and two dozen junior doctors.

The moment you step into a hospital, police station or any govt-related office the first thing people want to know is how influential you are either through money or power. They have developed this "sense" of finding out from your dress, the way you talk, and those who are with you.

If anyone is injured in an accident or crime like rape, they want to ensure there is no powerful connections involved with the crime before even caring for the person. if the person is a nobody, then they dont care. period.
