In Uttar Pradesh, Brahmin anger threatens to upset the Narendra Modi applecart
The anger seems to stem from the fact that many senior leaders of the BJP belonging to the Brahmin community are perceived to have been humiliated and moved around to constituencies which were not of their choice.
Murli Manmohar Joshi being moved to Kanpur from Varanais and Kalraj Mishra from Kanpur to Deoria are often cited as an example. In Joshi's case, while no one could say for sure whether he could have been re-elected in Varanasi, the manner In which he was shifted has been que ..

Re: In Uttar Pradesh, Brahmin anger threatens to upset the Narendra Modi applecart
At a small meeting held in a private home in old Hyderabad area of Lucknow, Rita Bahuguna Joshi, the Congress candidate speaks to a group of middle class Muslim voters. Many just want to know whether she is has the support of Brahmins or not.
The community has a 10% vote bank across the state, but urban centres like Lucknow have up to 15% Brahmin voters. "My father used to say that Bharat ki aatma maile janeyu main basti hai (the soul of this country resides in the dirty janeyu, i.e.sacred thread of a rustic Brahmin)," says Salman Bashar a prominent Congress supporter. "We are waiting to see where they will go."
A poster put up by the SP in Lucknow read: "Brahmin nirdhan hoga to Sudama, or apmanit hoga toh Chankaya banega, naye raaj ki sthapanaa kar dega (if a Brahmin is poor he will be Sudama -a friend to Krishna who honoured him -- and if insulted will be Chanakya and establish a new order)."
The wait is to see which way the Brahmins choose to go.

Well, BIMARU brahmins should devote their time to the pursuit of spirituality. If they do that, they will do themselves and others a lot of good. If they don't, BIMARU DKheads may attack more than their threads.Rashmun wrote:The anger seems to stem from the fact that many senior leaders of the BJP belonging to the Brahmin community are perceived to have been humiliated and moved around to constituencies which were not of their choice.

Rashmun is doing his best to repeat a favorite tactic of Congress and Political Islamist Muslims. Divide Hindus using Caste and stoke the embers of cultural differences. Shame on this party and Shame on Congress for dividing India to stay in power. The Muslims are doing tactical block voting against Modi, ONLY because he fights for true equality and does not want special favors to any one religion. If the Brahmins vote and reduce BJP by about 20-30 seats, and prevent NDA from coming to power, then that will be the end of Hinduism as a religion, in the not so distant future, by around 2040-50, which also would mean the end of Brahmins. All the Hindus have to do is go and see J&K, WB, Kerala and walled city of Hyderabad. This is because all other parties pander to Political Islam and will go against Constitution to grant special favors to Muslims because they block vote.Vakavaka Pakapaka wrote:Well, BIMARU brahmins should devote their time to the pursuit of spirituality. In addition Modi has completely campaigned on the platform of development. If Hindus and especially Brahmins do not vote for Modi, since Muslims are VOTING AGAINST development (against Modi), it will also be the end of a bright future for the depressed areas of India like UP and Bihar. In addition, if Hindus want true SECULARISM and a life without discrimination they should vote for a party/alliance that is for development of all Indians without discrimination. NDA

These over-the-hill politicians (including brahmins, in their 70s and 80s) need to realize that they have reached the age of 'sanyasa' (renunciation from the worldly activities). There is even the recommendation in this regard about getting into the 'sanyas-aashram' (forsaking the world) after the age 75, and that does not mean getting elected to the Parliament or that the Parliament is the place for 'sanyasa'.
