There are several similarities between iSlam and Indira Congress.

The most important similarity is:  both keep their vote-banks poor and ignorant so that they will "submit" themselves to the rhetoric of the supreme leader. This technique works as long as the followers are morons, fanatics and uneducated. As society gets educated it gradually starts to see other options and will eventually abandon the faith.

The second similarity is:  both have some clever followers who decide what is best for the masses. In iSlam, the mullahs, the Musharrafs and the Saudi/Jordanian "royals" tell the people what is best for them. In reality, these guys make themselves filthy rich on the backs of the poor suckers. In CONartistry, the leaders create entitlement programs through which they rob the nation and become filthy rich. Only a little bit of the money trickles down to the common man. They don't care for the economy or the security of the country. The clever ones among them invent high sounding words (Hindustaniatva, Sikularfukulartva, Anti-communalatva, etc.) to legitimize their highway robbery and to divide people into powerless groups - the Laloos, Mulayams, Sonias, Vadras, Khalmadis, Rajas, K'nidhis, Jagans, Digvijayas, etc.

iSlam is still able to hold on to the flock by stopping women from getting educated, killing those who question the book or Dr. PBUH, etc. Unfortunately for CONmen, they have to at least pretend that they are in a democracy and need to listen to people once in a while. PV Narasimha Rao decided to uncouple India from the clutches of the Gandui dynasty and opened the country to the outside world. As people started to see how other countries are progressing, they started to think that the mullah-giri of the dynasty and her fukwas need not be followed. Now they know that iSlamish CONmen are ruining the country. So, they decided to give others a chance. 

So, CONmen will remember 2014 as the year when the voters together hammered the last nail in the coffin of iSlamic CONparty.
