Japanese media thinks Congress might still have a chance to retain power

Excerpts
However, the INC, which was returned to power in the 2004 general election with the support of farmers and the poor, has continuously implemented policies friendly to its support base. A loan waiver program for farmers that was introduced in 2008 at a total cost of more than $20 billion is the most extreme example of this. Other measures that have been enacted include the National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, which pays a daily wage to poor rural households in exchange for light labor, and the National Food Security Act, which provides rice, wheat and other grains at around 15% of their market prices.
Such pork-barrel spending has led to side-effects including the fraudulent receipt of goods and the diversion of commodities into the black market. Some programs have been ineffective, but last year's abundant harvest coupled with the boosting of purchase prices for farm produce has fattened farmers' wallets. No major criticism of the administration can be heard from the 700 million farmers. It has been pointed out that "corruption" is more difficult to turn into an issue in villages than in cities. So, if one is speaking only about farming communities, there is a possibility that the ruling coalition could stay on without losing.

Analysis based on proper understanding of CONartists. These guys will do anything to get elected.
I am sure our exceptionally brilliant sikular SuCh scholars see nothing wrong in what CONmen have been doing.
The way CONmen are ruining India, I won't be surprised if PakiSatan and Bangladesh will leave India behind. Mani Shankar Commie Iyer will be a happy man.
