I was upset when I learned a few years ago that Air India would be the Indian carrier on Star Alliance. Looks like the partner airlines had second thoughts and "indefinitely suspended" their decision at the last minute. AI needs to be privatized and allowed to either recover or slip away into bankruptcy without any more taxpayer subsidies.

I hope this means Jet Airways can become part of the alliance. They already have codeshares with UA and AC, but not with LH and SQ, the other two major partners in the alliance. It will be interesting to see how Star now plays the ever-more-important India market.
