the oven
you know i went to trader joes which is like a hippie rat hole and i bought these spinach-kale bites, the instructions say that i'm supposed to put them in the conventional oven for 15 mins, and the oven is hot and it had been more than 30 mins and the thing looks frozen from the outside.
then isaw it said it has be in the top rack of the oven, i would think the oven is uniformly hhot, is it not cooking cuz of that? whats the diff between the top rack and the bottom rack? although it's been like forever there is still no burning smell.

Re: the oven
but actually my question is what's the difference between the top rack and the bottom rack? that's the only part of the instrcutions i didn't follow. isn't an oven supposed to be uniformly hot???

Re: the oven
No. it depends on which coil is heated. If it's in the 'broil' setting, the top coil is going to be heated and it's more hot in the top rack than the bottom. If it's in the 'bake' setting, the bottom coil is going to be heated and hence the bottom rack would be more hotter than the top.pravalika nanda wrote:but actually my question is what's the difference between the top rack and the bottom rack? that's the only part of the instrcutions i didn't follow. isn't an oven supposed to be uniformly hot???

top rack is good to have, bottom is where all the action is at.
usually top rack is for broiling and bottom is for baking. I would think you need to use broil option for reheating stuff

i kno i know! there was a time when i was too innocent to get the double meanings. Even when i kinda get it, I'd be in self-denial with a 'no, no. it can't be that. I shouldn't be thinking like that'. Those were the days! sigh!Merlot Daruwala wrote:Kinnera wrote:Ramachandra!@the double meanings.
