Bullet trains in India
A new department will be made under the purview of the Railway Board to prepare for six bullet trains like those in China. These trains will be introduced in four years, with foreign investment. Modi had visited China recently and studied the bullet train model. His man for this project could be E. Sreedharan, the man in charge of the Delhi Metro project.

That is Ok. But I hope they keep away from Chinese technology for signalling or trains because these are allegedly illegal copies of technology from Europeans. China is having surplus inventory and factories that are now very unproductive and loss making. Thoroughly discredited because of accidents etc..The current railway board wisely focused only on Track laying agreements with Chinese companies. Moreover any such agreement with any foreign company should ensure jobs for Indians, in most of the semi skilled and unskilled areas and skilled import of manpower should be kept to the minimum.Rishi wrote:A new department will be made under the purview of the Railway Board to prepare for six bullet trains like those in China. even more interesting are merging some ministries, move some to empower economic diplomacy, speeding up decision making, letting bureaucrats run things without ministers butting in too much....
When was the last time such things were on plate before govt. formation? it was all about sharing the pie and killing for better portfolios.

there are plans to build a double line to mve goods trains. that will free the current double lines for trains. revamping major rail lines to increase speed from 130 kmph to 160/180 should be within reach.
(there are different bullt speeds...)
