Right now UP has been allocated 80 out of the 543 Lok Sabha seats. UPwalahs claim this is unfair and in accordance with the principle of one man-one vote they should be allocated more Lok Sabha seats. Since the population of UP is a slightly less than one fifth of the population of India this would mean giving UP 90-100 Lok Sabha seats. Your views?

Yeah, population explosion! Actually, if you look at the map of UP, it looks like a horny elephant. It may become less so if split into three!

TN, Maharashtra and Andhra are heavily subsidizing BIMARU states. So a committee comprising the CMs of these 3 states should be set up to dictate social, financial, educational and labour reforms in these states. State government should implement them or these 3 states would demand that their siubsidies stop. We don't want to fund chronically sick states who want to suck blood out of the productive states unless they start changing.

Trollus, be consistent. Now you are calling TN a state of Hindia.

Re: BIMARU news
The more likely outcome is that wild, lawless, backward UP will be broken up into 3-4 smaller, governable states. So LS seats won't be concentrated.Rashmun wrote:Vakavaka Pakapaka wrote:BIMARU bhaiyyas have been very busy!

Let us assume UP is broken up into 3-4 pieces. The demand will not go away that in accordance with the principle of one man-one vote the total Lok Sabha seats of the combined residual states that would make up present day UP should be increased from 80 to 90-100.
UP MP's have in fact proposed this idea in the Lok Sabha. Unfortunately other MP's did not accept the suggestion giving the strange logic that it would be akin to rewarding UP for failing to implement population control.
