....What the US and West achieved over 3 months of incessant bombing, raid and groundwars, these guys are doing it in a flat 2 weeks with not much damage.

am I missing something here ?

Same reason as Mosul. It fell in a single with out fight. 

ISIL is supported by local sunni tribal leaders.  This whole insurgency is supported by Saudis and Qataris. The saudis may not be royals but are wealthy individuals (saudi royals may be benevolently disposed towards them).  Google for an interview of charlie rose with Morales, ex vice cheif of CIA, on Bloomberg.

The real test is when it is all over and a provincial govt is "announced". the al-queda n sunni tribes will start a fight. a lebanon in the making.
