Truths, half-truths and lies about AP development
India broke out of the trap of a low rate of economic growth, the ‘Hindu rate of growth’, by the 1980s. If the performance of Andhra Pradesh is compared to all-India and other states, it is seen that GSDP growth rates for A.P. also rose beyond the earlier low rates during the last two and half decades. GSDP grew continuously from 2.11 per cent in the 1960s to 3.03 percent in the 1970s; to 5.21 per cent in the 1980s and to 5.42 per cent in the 1990s (Table 4.1)1 . It was 5.89 per cent in the first five years of this decade. However, the growth of GSDP in the last ten years (1993-94 to 2003-04) was lower at 5.66 per cent as compared to 5.93 per cent during the decade 1984-85 to 1993-94. The growth rate of GSDP was lower in A.P. than the all-India rate but has been catching up over time. Moreover, there seems to have been a turnaround in the growth of GSDP in A.P. in the last five years. The average annual growth rate was 7.45 per cent during 2001-08 and 8.7 percent during 2004-08 (Table 4.1a). The annual average growth in AP is higher than that of India in 2007-08.
In comparison with other states, Andhra Pradesh was one of the top performing states in terms of GSDP growth in the 1980s. Only three states viz., Rajasthan, Haryana, and Maharashtra showed higher growth than Andhra Pradesh in the 1980s. However, in the 1990s, A.P. was ranked eighth in terms of GSDP growth. Apart from the above three states, Gujarat, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal had a higher rate of growth than India Andhra Pradesh in the 1990s.

More on CBN's tunnel vision and his tall claims.
"Naidu claims to have developed Hyderabad and put ‘Brand Hyderabad’ on the world map. The TRS and the Congress have always had a different opinion on these claims. TRS president Rao, speaking at a press conference in Hyderabad last December, trashed Naidu’s skewed vision of development focused mainly on the services sector, especially IT. “His shortcomings were further concealed by his team of bureaucrats and party members who highlighted achievements in IT sector, neglecting the agrarian population that resides in the rural areas,” says Nagesh Kumar, former resident editor of The Hindu, Hyderabad. “There was disconnect with ground realities,” he adds. In 2011, Naidu was named in a disproportionate assets case with 12 others for amassing wealth during his tenure. The High Court order directing the CBI to probe the case came on a petition filed by YS Vijayamma, wife of the late YS Rajasekhara Reddy.
During his tenure, Naidu basked in the glory of having raised a huge amount of funds from the World Bank (which contributed one-third of the total loans raised), but was criticized by the Congress for borrowing nearly Rs 80,000 crore at high interest rates. According to a report titled ‘State Wise review of Agrarian Economy of Suicide Prone States in India', 11,370 distressed farmers committed suicide between 1999 and 2004. The human development index indicators weren’t rosy enough for a state that was emerging as the IT hub of India, second only to Bangalore.
That Naidu has been voted to power this year due to poll promises such as loan waivers is a fact that cannot be overlooked. But he may need around Rs 82,000 crore to fulfill his promises, says a TDP source, as the state faces a zero budget situation. Not only are these sops going to cause huge losses to the state exchequer, but they are also going to add to the existing debt.
While sources from his core team say that they will soon approach the World Bank for funds again, market analysts believe that people will eventually have to bear the burden of this loan (from the World Bank or the International Monetary Fund) in the form of taxes. YSR Congress MP Peddireddi Mithun Reddy opines that the TDP is in for “serious administrative trouble in the coming months.” "

Have you and the YSRCP leaders made up your mind yet on
a) What caused TDP victory - Modi wave or CBNs promises?
b) Is the Farm Loan Waiver Good or Bad for the State?

Don't be jealous and bitter. My point was to refute CBN's & his ardent supporters tall claims that A.P was a backward state before CBN's time and he put it on India's map.truthbetold wrote:Are we witnessing the birth of a southern rashmun?

The very fact that you & TBT have been attacking me personally for the past couple of months proves that you've got nothing to dispute the content/facts provided in my posts.Propagandhi711 wrote:truthbetold wrote:Are we witnessing the birth of a southern rashmun?

CD:
What is this "Hindu rate of growth" you are referring to?
Go back to history and compare India's share in the world's economy. It was quite high.
The growth rate you were referring to had nothing to do with Hinduism or Hindus. It was a Soviet style socialism that stagnated India. Blame comrades Nehru and Indira, not Hindus.
If not for PVN, you will still be stuck in the third world.

Let's be kind to this village idiot Jr. After his ass was handed over to him by the Indian electorate and after knowing that Modi will spoil the next 15 years of his miserable life, this clown is taking his anger out on this forum. Pity and kindness, please. Prayers too.
