I notice that on ToI, recent news items from Hyderabad are mostly on "fun" and "games" - someone having a drinking party at a Hotel, someone else organizing "rave" parties in the suburbs of Hyderabad, etc. Is this a smear campaign by Andhra journalists or a sign of Telangana culture starting to express itself in the new state?

Just these from 26 people (or 14 "businessmen"). The Telengan police need to improve their "performance"
