there was no opposing israel message. it was a simple wristband that said 'save gaza'. how is that opposing israel? the ECB stood by him, but the gutless ICC stepped in and asked him to remove it. a-holes.

ian chappell had the right response on cricinfo. the toothless ICC is worrying about things irrelevant to cricket, but not doing the difficult things it needs to deal with. he was remembering some prior world cup where something from a sponsor sachin was wearing on his pads was off by one font size and they wrote him a letter saying if he doesn't fix it, they'll ban him for five matches, while mcgrath was going around physically threatening players and putting his hand on them in the same match and they didn't do jack about it.

The headline should be "Muslim cricketer Moeen Ali expresses solidarity with his fellow Muslims". Because judging by his action he is a Muslim first and a Britisher next.

He knows he can get away with it in liberal England. What are they going to do? Ban him or fine him and incur the wrath of angry Muslim youth who could go rioting or chop down people?
