Neither Dalit nor Muslims vote for the BJP in any appreciable number. So if these two communities which form almost 40% of UP's total population ( Dalits 20% and Muslims 18%) then the suspicion is that this is being done by the Hindutva Chaddis with perhaps the tacit support of Mulayam Singh Yadava's Samajwadi Party. The target here is Mayawati. The Dalit-Muslim divide is being artificially engineered to weaken Mayawati and ensure that Muslims do not vote for her.
