muthu thAndavar lived 1525 - 1600 and was a composer of many pada varNams.  only sixty of his compositions have survived to the present day. here is a composition in raga nAdanAmakriyA that is heard on the concert stage from time to time, but not too frequently:

she started off strong, but after 2:09, i was like, what is this yelping, man! i love mss's singing in telugu and even her tamil songs but here it was a mess. first I couldn't make out the words she was saying. so I looked up the lyrics, looks like it is about siva, hoping to dance at his feet, golden skinned, hangs with lions etc.

wish someone else had sung it.

I have a funny such story about MSS. when I had just joined, almost 7 years ago, people began thinking if I am yet another old wine in a new bottle. I think someone suspected I was impy's new avatar as she had just been hacked and had quit for a few days. So anyway, I began chatting with this poster, and he sent me a link of MSS singing, asking my opinion of her. I had no idea who she was. For some reason I thought this is some family video of this dude, and he is asking me the opinion of an old singer from his family. In all earnest, I began saying things like, 'her face is so bright, her eyes are so shining', and asking how was he related to her. lol. I realized much later that he was only testing me, as he told me much later that he thought I was impy. am sure he must have been like, 'either this is not impy, or impy is trying extra hard to appear ignorant'.
