IPL and Overplay emerging as major contenders for Test cricket fall

Indian Media seems to be coming to the conclusion that India team's failures can be traced to IPL and too much cricket.
Who can argue with that? So BCCI secretary has already clarified that no player is forced to play. They can also opt out.
I like that. BCCI takes no responsibility for over crowded schedule, lack of preparatory matches, managing fast bowling resource well and other trivial factors.
BCCI's argument is these players are all adults. They can skip and get rest.
However neither BCCI, nor media talks about lack of talent to match the demands of world's no#1 ranking. The ability to play any kind of bowling/batting on any surface in any weather conditions is a minimum requirements for no#1. India did not have it at this time. Remember, in 120 at bats, Indian scored 8 half centuries and two centuries and did not touch 300 in any of the six innings. Even the big three did not meet the average requirements with neither Laxman nor sachin making any impression.
there is no immediate cure that BCCI can offer other than developing bowling and batting talent to match the needs of world cricket. The awful thing is young players are not fielding well. Please do not produce a home cooked cricket to resolve this problem. World no#1 must be able to win anywhere in the world.

A couple of months of rest would have done a world of good but again neither Dravid nor Laxman were part of the WC team. Laxman & Zaheer did not play much in IPL, Sachin, Gambhir, Yuvi, Sree did not partake in Windies tour. There is more to this failure than meets eye. Only reasonable explanation would be not giving the team enough time to prepare/plan for such an important/high profile tour

Really? So why did $kar go to UK much ahead (he was there since June watching Wimbledon in a suit) and prepare for 2 months and yet could not score more thn 60 in 6 innings?
The team just thought Eng is vulnerable to spin and such and they thought too much of themselves as unconquerable. All these so called seniors must be sacked NOW.
It is written all over that India will lose 4-0. So why bother keeping these seniors? Send them home and let the young talent take their places. We will lose huge with young talent? Fine, with old talent we are not doing any better.
The team - Raina for example - is so used to the ODI and 20/20, the stupid moron asked for his LBW out to be reviewed. They do not even remember what format they are playing and they are #1 in test ranking. What kind of shyt they eat on daily basis to develop such constipation of brains?

Good read. Thanks for posting. It's nice to know about Vengsarkar's involvement with his academy and his generosity, unlike other stalwarts he is never caught with hard cash in his locker room at a sports club
As for IPL angle, there may be some truth to that but keep in mind that India has reached the top spot and has won WC (unless it was fixed) despite the crammed schedule & players participation in IPL for past 3 years.

You make little sense man. There was hardly 10 days gap between the 3rd test and the 1st test @ Lords, and I'm not saying that this as an excuse nevertheless a hard fact. If the team thought Eng was vulnerable to spin why didn't they field more than one spinner. Sack seniors after failing in one series while youngsters didn't exactly set the world on fire in the same series.
