In the video that IT posted, a bjp leader and others around apologized to Sardesai with a big heart ( i am sure, at that time they didn't know that Sardesai was the one who started it). But the sardesai guy didn't take any of it, went on to play victim and tried to malign modi supporters. Now he's biting the dust as the video taken by the bystanders came out and he's exposed.

u might be right in that the BJP may not have requested India Today group to release the entire video. Maybe the India Today group is not releasing the entire video because it would show Modi Bhaktas in a poor light and that could provoke Modi into persecuting the India Today group. As we all know Modi is a very vindictive person.
Meanwhile the Indian TV channel Zee News which is known to be close to BJP and whose editors have been sent to jail for asking bribes from a senior industrialist (Naveen Jindal--this was recorded on a secret camera by Jindal) are attacking Sardesai on their TV channel. The Editors Guild today strongly condemned the attack on senior journalist and its former President Rajdeep Sardesai by a group claiming to be supporters of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New York yesterday.

Sardesai, who according to eyewitness accounts, kept trying to pacify a crowd of around 50 people was "abused in the vilest language", and manhandled at the Madison Square Garden in New York.

"This mob mentality to silence those with divergent views is not acceptable," the Guild said and urged the Prime Minister and the government to condemn the incident, and ensure that action is taken against the guilty.

Meanwhile, Congress also condemned the "attack" on Sardesai. Underlining that there can always be difference of opinions on issues, Congress spokesperson Raj Babbar rued that the "situation is deteriorating."

"Some supporters are getting physical. What has happened to senior journalist Rajdeep Sardesai is condemnable and Congress party condemns it strongly," Babbar told reporters.

He stressed that just because he was condemning the incident from the Congress podium, it does not mean that Sardesai is a worker of any party.

"He is a veteran journalist. And till now no kind of regret has been expressed by the party whose supporters attacked him. A lot of senior leaders from the party are there (US), but no one has given any comment on this," Babbar said.

It in fact seems pretty anti-national on part of the journalist. His country's Prime Minister is in a foreign land, trying for diplomatic ties and has an important meeting with its President today. This guy comes here, talks disparagingly about the Prime Minister and his supporters, makes some offensive religious remarks, brings up an issue which was cleared by the highest courts in India, picks up a street fight with the crowd, makes it a big issue, blaming the PM and his supporters and all. His behavior is despicable! I can't imagine a foreign journalist doing a similar kind of thing.
What image is he giving to his country and its Prime Minister in a foreign land? He needs to come to terms that Modi is not an electoral candidate anymore. He is the Prime Minister of India, voted to power by the majority. In a foreign country, it's his responsibility to uphold the prestige of his country and its Prime Minister whether he likes it or not. He has such petty mentality!

The organiser of the event, Vijay Jolly, came out and apologised to Sardesai for the behaviour of the miscreants. The seasoned journalist that he is, Sardesai took it in his stride and brushed it off as an unfortunate incident, saying that things like this happen sometimes when you report live.

What does senior journalist mean in India? Perhaps very little.

I remember when P.M. MMS was visiting Pres. Obama at the White House (WH) several years ago. At the end of the meeting there was a news conference in the WH lawn involving Obama and MMS, as usually happens always when the leader of a foreign country visits U.S. Pres.

The first question to the media persons / journalists, probably as a courtesy to the visiting Indians, was assigned to a TOI journalist (a female accompanying the Indian P.M.'s delegation). She asked Obama "what do you think of prime minister Manmohan Singh?"

Obama probably had never heard of this type of question before, question about a foreign leader who he had just hosted and who was standing next to him? So, he tried to mutter something.

Before Obama could go any further, the woman (TOI journalist, probably a senior one considering she had gone to the U.S. to cover P.M.'s visit) tossed out another gem "Isn't he (meaning MMS) nice?"

By this time, Obama had recovered about this type of silly questioning. He immediately starting talking about the great admiration he had for India and MMS, and so on............

Even Lord Krishna had responded after being repeatedly insulted by Sisupala. It is ridiculous to imagine that Rajdeep picked the fight first. Why would he? He is a respected world renowned journalists while the Bhaktas are unknown people.
Additionally, the organizer of the event--BJP leader Vijay Jolly--had apologized on behalf of the bhaktas on live television. Further, the bhakta with whom Rajdeep got into a scrap had also expressed apology according to senior journalist Bhupendra Chaubey who was present personally.

Well said. However, the journalist who is supposed to be more educated and leveled (professional requirement in a way) made a bigger fool of himself. The way most see it, he's the one trying to play the victim card in media. He should ideally be fired, if his press wants to keep an honorable name for itself, no? How can one be a good journalist when he is trying to spread/force a story/opinion instead of sensing/reporting it. The NRIs reacted how they usually should. Avoided him first, then reacted when he called them names and tried to rough them up, and if I read it correct in some accounts suggested calling a police. I am not expecting you to trash him.
