Manisha Verma, who lives in San Jose, Calif., has family from Ranchi, Jharkhand.

“Modi's upcoming trip brings a ray of hope for American Indians like me who face a conflicting reality of being part of one of the most successful and prosperous communities in the United States, and yet we carry the legacy of a poor third-world country and face biases in our adopted homeland. Modi brings hope of change in India which will help Indians have better self-esteem and image in the United States.”

It goes on to say that 60 yrs of congress rule by the nehru dynasty didn't do anything to up the image of India and that made some indians have a low self-esteem.

A NRI should be the last person to blurt out such nonsense, India's image in the eyes of Americans has changed/risen mostly because of the hard work of NRIs not because of what Modi can do or the previous governments have not done. Always remember this "Ask not what your country can do for you, Ask what you can do for your country"

really ? Who is not? Maha Thyagi Sonia Mata ji ? Shezahda Rahul ? MK ? JJ ? At least this guy is only hoping to get more respect by a more prosperous India, while the Indian politicians hope to enrich their own families with a possible spill over effect on the nation.

yeah rite.. anyone who states a "wish" becomes a player of "victim card". The one who commits a crime and then playing like a victim is the one playing victim card. What did the NRIs do ? leave the country instead of staying back and become part of the looters of bribe taking Desi (even the private sector guys take bribes and enrich themselves. Ask me about how it is done legally and illegally.

mulla reddy should be the last one to throw around the word victim card. his daily uniform is victim banner for his new religion.

I know christian converts in india get monies so there were several conversions a while ago. what about islam converts? is it strictly for the food and 72 virgins? maybe someone can answer

Stating wish?! this guy after having earned a free degree [in all likelihood] in India which gave him the edge over other immigrants & even US citizens for that matter, made a good life for himself and is blaming his home/birth country for being a third world country because it hurts his image and is ashamed of it. What has he done for his birth country? the least he could do is STFU, and you're supporting such selfish personality.

Here's why Confused Douche is the biggest Confused Douche on this forum:

Some NRI says that when India changes for the better, he will feel greater self-esteem. Confused Douche calls it "self-serving". Really? Taking pride from our country's progress is self-serving? It is understandable why Confused Douche is so confused. He is so used to his dear leaders looting unaccounted for crores from the public. So, in his mind, serving the people / nation = looting crores of public wealth, self-serving = feeling pride from nation's progress.

Only an educated moron devoid of self-respect or dignity will make an attempt to support a pathetic statement which clearly states that person's intent or gripe about India
"which will help Indians have better self-esteem and image in the United States"
