Now that NaMo's back home...
...(emptyhanded of course) it's worth remembering that exactly a year ago, our NRI brethren were similarly gushing about another great leader...

Hmm.... So, whenever something doesn't seem to succeed, sikularists are happy!
Modi didn't visit a Dalit home, make promises and go back to his cushy home.
He is working while you are posting. He is starting the clean India movement. Hopefully, Laloo-ites won't go and relieve themselves on the sidewalks.

No. He's definitely a big improvement over what we've had all these years, and over alternatives.
Nevertheless, one hoped the US visit would produce something even vaguely substantial, to justify the spontaneous ejaculations experienced by NRI patriots like DUT and SP on his visit. Instead, it just feels like lots of oration and lots of symbolism but very little action. Just like Obummer.

Just a few days ago I saw a woman relieving herself in public less than 100 meters from a dominos pizza place in Hyderabad. I hope the clean India movement lives up to at least a fraction of its hype.

Can you identify few things modi could have achieved on this tour but did not?
Speaking of Anna, in case you did not notice, he finished his job. He helped expose corrupt Congress. The results are there for every one to see one.
He is one of the reasons for your daily crying.

You can post that cartoon after every foreign trip by any head of nation to any nation. Empty criticism. Parrot daily crying.

All these people who still have a job today in US and posting on this forum can thank Obama's step-in to save the economy. The economy is doing better and some here have forgotten thatl. US's International action image that Republicans want to see will only pull US in more disarray.
Obama's Healthcare has done NO harm and anyone against Obamacare is simply either parroting for no reason or just chiming with others. HealthCare costs have grown the SLOWEST EVER in the last decade and is becoming less each year. Live and Learn Dude. Live and Learn.
Did I not say, "You are loosing your marbles about India"? I did.... so that covers India as well.

I'd discount the latter. Any brownie points for getting a defanged, entirely irrelevant OBL stand canceled by the sheer negligence that allowed the ISIS to rise, and also for letting Israel drive the Middle East agenda. Fail!
So overall, his only legacy is Obamacare. Which seems woefully inadequate considering the euphoria we felt when he stormed into office six years ago. I still remember standing in Times Square that day in November '08 as the results were coming in, and feeling the sheer rush of the joy all around me, all those aspirations of hope and change. Granted, he had a bad hand dealt to him and an obstructionist GoP, and yet the legacy is a very disappointing one relative to expectations. O-bummer.
I sure hope this doesn't happen with NaMo. We just can't afford to muff it up.

Modi's recent trip to the U.N. / U.S. can be given at least A grade (90%) in terms of success and in restoring his image as the legitimate elected leader (P.M.) of India. Just remember the following ... what he had to deal with and get over about him in the eyes of foreigners so far in just a few months since being elected as the Indian P.M.
He had been called a murderer and butcher, and even a threat to India's "secularism", for more than a decade by Congress etc. and by quite a few Indians in spite of being acquitted of any crime by the Indian Supreme Court. The U.S. and other countries had even refused to grant him a visa, that decision being reversed only recently. Some Indians and journalists even during his U.S. trip wanted to give him a bad name and serve him summons to appear in the U.S. court. He very bravely overcame all that adversity during this trip.

The US team visited Vizag a week before Modi's trip. Now (after Modi returned from his trip) it is announced that the US will be a partner in developing Vizag into a "smart city".confuzzled dude wrote:

It is possible that Modi is not making big announcements because of local sensitivities (KCR vs. CBN, Jaya's gripes about disproportionate attention to AP, etc.).
So, be cautious before doling out sikular dirt at Modi. Modi doesn't mind the sikular garbage as long as the work gets done. He put up with Sonia/Pappu/Doggy garbage for years. He will do the same now. Hopefully for CONartists' sake, the voters won't punish fukularists more than they did in May 2014.

Through his successful trip, he has helped expose to foreigners the negative and deceptive forces (including people, journalists and political parties) in India which had been undermining the Indian voters and Indian democracy through deliberate and misleading campaigns inside and outside India. India and its democracy are thus the huge winners, which is even more important than his bringing in new business contracts from abroad during this trip.

looks like the super secular wine drinkers were expecting modi to come back with a big dowry and is disappointed modi didnt come back with MOUs from fortune 500s to shift their manufacturing base from china to india in the next few days. it's the same hard-to-please super secular that wants seismic changes in middleeast to wholesale change the nature of the sandies in 8 months or less and obama care to change the entire medicare system within 4 months. sounds like a results oriented bean counter that wants 100% cash flow improvement in the next quarter or everyone will be laidoff and company shuttered.

The last line on US sums this Mahesh guy -- "I just hope the Modi tenure is not akin to the Obama era. High on charisma-induced initial hope but little on delivery."
Was he a toddler when US Markets collapsed and US unemployment was above 8%? That is when Obama was sworn in as President in that environment. Did he follow death of US troops when scores of them were dying in Iraq/Afghanistan and Osama was still alive in Pakistan?
What a jerk.

Obama care - I was an even stronger proponent than Mian Daud and Mylapore Mama - is only a partial success and will have to wait for changes/modifications. Perhaps 2016 will tell how good/bad it is so that the next Prez can modify that. But, it is not going away.
Now, It has been good only for those in the 24 to 26 yr group, removal of preexisting conditions, portability and seeking care across the country. Regarding the 7 million new insurers - also called the burger flippers - it costs too much for them to buy or they dont realize that they have a heavy paydown of some 3 to 7K before the insurance kicks in. This has made those who bought it unhappy and may opt out this year. These borderline workers are under the illusion that once they get a "health insurance" they can wave it at every place and get free care on demand.
So Obamacare gets a C- at this point.

It produced extreme butt-hurt in the likes of Rajdeep Sardesai, Confused Douche, Doucheman, Maulana Gaywala and their ilk. That is substantial enough for us. The fact that Rajdeep might get slapped with an expensive lawsuit is icing on the cake.

Aren't NRIs responsible for your paychecks as well?

Pick a broom and start cleaning your shit from this forum. It's Gandhi Jayanti today and a good day to start.
Avivek, it's losing, not loosing. Why don't you go bother TBT for a change? You might both benefit from the exchange.
AVivek, Yessss... Stick to your strengths. That's the best for you.
PS: Max and FlimFlam do the same when cornered. Nice
ROFL! On Sulekha it's proof enough that the quarry has been cornered and has nothing substantial to say when he starts poking holes in your grammar.

Can you identify few things modi could have achieved on this tour but did not?
Speaking of Anna, in case you did not notice, he finished his job. He helped expose corrupt Congress. The results are there for every one to see one.
He is one of the reasons for your daily crying.
Daruwala,
As expected you could not identify even a single item that modi failed to achieve but declare loudly modi failed.
