Indian states ranking by fertility rate
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indian_states_ranking_by_fertility_rateThis is a list of the States of India ranked in order of number of children born for each woman. Based on this study, the following Indian states,if they continue their current trends of fertility rate or lower them further, would stop contributing to population growth in India in future - Andhra Pradesh, Goa, Tamil Nadu, Himachal Pradesh, Kerala, Punjab, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Delhi, Jammu And Kashmir, Karnataka and Sikkim.
All the four South Indian states Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka as well as Goa, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Sikkim, and Tripura, and the union territories of Delhi, Lakshadweep, Daman and Diu, Andaman and Nicobar and Chandigarh, registered a low fertility rate below the crucial 2.1. These states accounted for 50.4% of India's population in 2011.
Hmm.. this pours cold water on Young population is India's secret weapon myth, as it appears India won't be able to sustain young population strength, beyond current generation.

Re: Indian states ranking by fertility rate
What is your logic?
If a country continues to produce kids perpetually, it will become Haiti. No country can sustain its youthful image forever. Along with prosperity come attitudes that go against having children. When Ireland was poor, the Irish went to the pubs, got drunk and produced babies at a high rate. Now that they are more prosperous, even their Catholicism is forcing them to have babies. Prosperous countries like Japan, Scandinavia, Canada, etc., have older people. Some can't replenish with youngsters without changing their immigration policies. India is not in the same boat (yet). That doesn't mean that this will continue. As India becomes prosperous, the demography will also change. It is in the nature of things. China is a strange example. It forced people not to have children. They now regret their one child policy as irreparable damage is already done.
In a strange way, bored BIMARU bhaiyyas will benefit from their current night time activity. Their region will continue to have more youngsters than SI.

Wonder how a 70% muslim state J&K managed lower fertility rates than the most patriotic states of India. Doesn't this go against the very grain of saffron claims.Vakavaka Pakapaka wrote:What is your logic?
