Whatever she may be otherwise (I have limited information) I don't like her in the TV debates. She belongs to the same class of Manish Tewari and Mani Iyer when it comes to substance-less rhetoric.

She is in politics only since 2006 after she returned from UK. She was a successful BBC reporter and not into politics at all. A set of circumstances pushed this regular Trichy Iyer maami onto center stage.

You have to admire her for her family values and desire to do well in professional life. Those who work closely with her say that she is one of the most hard-working and efficient ministers they have seen. Her family (MIL, SIL, husband, father, mother, etc.) admires her (Iyers and AP Smarthas are quite similar in their cultural upbringing). She is the type that is not corrupted by power but, she is not really an ideologue.

Meenakshi Lekhi
Smiti Irani
Prakash Javadekar
Sudhanshu Trivedi

(Lekhi and Irani are plastic and can be yucky.)

I agree that Nirmala is combative and is not a visionary (her husband is smarter but he jumps all over the place). Manish Tiwari is a typical CONartist. He tries to sell snake oil.

Mani is a narcissistic fool (like "his kind" with not much సరుకు).
