Much to the dismay of the AP government, the Centre is learnt to have told it that the losses caused to the State because of Cyclone Hudhud, which had wreaked havoc on North Andhra, might not be more than `680 crore. Though the State had earlier sent a report to the Centre pegging the Hudhud losses at `21,908 crore, the Centre assessed that the losses might not be more than `680 crore. The Centre asked AP government officials to visit Delhi to discuss the matter on December 15. The government is hopeful that during the meeting, it could convince the Centre that more financial aid is needed to the State to undertake the rehabilitation works.

As none other than Prime Minister Narendra Modi had promised an interim relief assistance of `1,000 crore to the State after reviewing the massive devastation caused by Hudhud during his visit to Visakhapatnam, the government is hopeful that the Centre will increase the aid to it. So far, the Centre has released `400 crore to the State  towards cyclone relief.
