The Pravasi Bharatiya Drama in Gujarat
The entry to this exclusive circle, dominated by BJP supporters, is determined not so much by a person’s affection for their ancestral land but by the depth of their pockets. The message is: Come home by all means but don’t forget to bring your dollars and pounds sterling; or you may not fit in.
When I was coming to India, I thought of attending it just out of curiosity. So, I looked up the PBD official website, run by the Government of India’s Department of Youth Affairs, the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs and the Government of Gujarat, for assistance with registration and hotel booking. I found it striking that three of the most expensive hotels of Gandhinagar were listed for delegates. Even the “special rates’’ that the sponsors said they had negotiated with these hotels for “your convenience” were simply too high for those not on company expenses. And then there were registration costs, and a host of other charges--all of which together cost a bomb........

When I was at a school last week, a "NRI" offered Rs 5 Laks to establish a scholarship to help 5 (poor) students annually to help with their education. This guy deserves as much recognition if not more as he is just a typical middle class mama from US (or UK). If India is to be clean in 5 years, it is the small time NRIs like this combined with the very well to do IT professionals in Desh (the stingiest group of all) that could achieve it - village by village.

Doesn't GOI (Modi mentioned it earlier) have an email / website to register complaints and give suggestions. For what it is worth, you ought to do that. At the least you can test the system, and if it is not responsive, post here some genuine complaints against administration.Marathadi-Saamiyaar wrote:The entry to this exclusive circle, dominated by BJP supporters, is determined not so much by a person’s affection for their ancestral land but by the depth of their pockets. are you confusing modi with Mahatma gandhi? Modi's job is to move india economically forward. NRI's with deep pockets are one small part of the strategy. Desh bakth's are welcome at their own risk don't expect modi or bjp or anyone else to spend an extra minute for them.

Actually what Uppili says make sense. Yes the Biggies who can donate Millions matter. But there might be many more NRI's who can fork out 5 Lakhs. A mechanism could be evolved to channel the contributions of the small guy, by somebody else in the administrative chain. More villages could be covered this way.truthbetold wrote:uppili

My dear NRI Patriot brethren,
Kindly disregard the above post. Upps Aunty, being a staunch NRI Patriot would never post such an anti-Indian, anti-Hindu message. This low-level cribbing against the glorious Pravasi Bharartiya Divas organized by our
As you know, Modiji loves all NRIs, big and small. If you are wealthy, your dollars are most welcome. Even if you are not so wealthy, your dollars are no less greener.
Please generously contribute to the cause of Hindutva in your home country. In exchange, you will receive a beautiful, hand-crafted trishul lovingly autographed by Modiji. In addition to serving as a reminder of your glorious Hindu identity, it is a handy instrument for dealing with people you disagree with, aka sickulars. Classily stick it into their necks at the next rock concert at Madison Square Gardens and show the world that you are as tough as Muslims.
Ask not what your country has done for you. Ask what you can do for Modiji. And the answer is very simple. Sign a check today. Show how patriotic an NRI Patriot you are. Jai Shri Ram. Bharat Mata ki jai. Pravasi Bharatiya donations ki jai.
