....his govt. is planning on closing down about 100 tanneries (owned by an unnamed super Sikular minority) with the excuse that they are the main cause of pollution in Ganga (oops, Ganges). Doggy should go and hug some monomaniacs (not their wives and daughters) and console them.

Rahul ji should immediately go to a minority house, eat halal food and start a pieceful march to Uma Bharati's office in Delhi for Garibi Hatao-ing. MullaYama should also join in so that his vote-bank won't all moves to CONmen.

I observed over the last 15 years, one major problem hindering India's Swatch Bharat campaign

Plastics...ever since iits use escalated in the mid 90s, it is everywhere - outside homes, streets, railway lines, rivers, rivulets. There is simply no plan for garbage disposal. The currently followed strategy is to somehow take the city trash and "somehow" make it disappear out of sight - not really solving the trash problem. The dumped plastics end up clogging the small rivers - which have been serving as "sewage" and drainage lines.

Plastics are everywhere even in villages.

Yes...and plastic bags - small and big - used in shops, dept stores, and groceries. A sure way to distinguish a NRI from a desi - simply see one carrying a small plastic waste all over the place to find a garbage can. Oh such garbage cans are far and rare, and when you find one, it is full and looks like some shit can.

Indians could learn from the lessons of the west. But they have to destroy their own environment before they learn to clean up. Sad but the unpleasant truth.

When I was a kid, they used to use news papers to wrap things. Some guys used to be very innovative in how they used paper to wrap lentils, etc.. They also made bags with paper. We used to stack news papers together and some guy used to come and buy them by weight. They used banana leaves and plates made with leaves at functions. Now, they have fancy plastic plates and cups, etc. Looks like, those days, recycling was more common.
