........Since this woman separated from her husband and "living" with another man, the five would have labeled her a lose woman and committed the crime.

Perhaps, reflecting the comments of the Nirbhaya defense "lawyers" and most rural Indian men (notice that Nirbhaya and her rapists also had a rural background).

The word rural is unnecessary in this context. Cultural attitudes are one factor in rape incidence. It is a complicated issue. Reducing it to some group that cannot respond is silly.

Rape happens in American universities. Date rapes are perpetrated by known acquaintances. Powerful people like employers take advantage of their employees.

Men of many classes and backgrounds are found to be guilty of rape. Study the issue and do not jump to easy labeling to satisfy our own prejudices.

If the woman is known to have "strayed" then she SHOULD be okay to have sex with any man. That was the mindset of most men. In Indian cities with increasing exposure to divorce/remarriage, living in, and womens "rights", urban men are moving away from that "thinking" While rural men still cannot accept such things. Urban men who accept the changes try "other" pachurian methods. Pachuri or Mel Strauss-Khan or Tejpal did not indulge in gang rapes or rapes. Only "forced/pressured" sex.
