euro - prediction of end date

Without US and UK, European countries seem to struggle for leadership. The enormous depths of euro crisis was left to solve for itself. France is making noises but Germany seems to pulling away from additional role.

Without leadership, European integration is under heavy stress. Even more stress is put on Euro. A section of observers are predicting demise of Euro. What is your thinking?

My take on euro is that it can fail spectacularly. However, USA may play a role and pull EU together to prolong euro life. There is a possibility that some sharp action may help euro, events seem to drive towards the demise of euro. Hope it does not happen because the failure of Euro will hurt all of us.

On a serious note, can't see the US (or China) letting the Euro go kaput, if only out of self interest.

I think the euro may survive as the currency of the Treaty of Rome countries (France, Germany, Benelux). The rest will have to opt out in order to try to grow this economies again -- not having control of monetary policy is a serious handicap for Greece, Spain, etc.

Makes me think...

What do these Euro countries have to grow their economies? Cheap labor/manufcturing? technology that they can export?, Militray hardware to export?

Ask 100 people wht can Greece, Poland, Hungary, Italy make...and no one will be able to answer. (ONLY India will import 3rd rate Italian products along with its Mafia-related corruption - thanks to Soniambaal)
