this is burrey din. as per an article i read in ET today, tobacco companies have been hit by an almost 20% decline in cigarette smokers at the entry level and 10% in regular (not premium-brand) smokers. all this is because of an almost 200% increase in taxation in the last two years -- also because of label warnings and gen y culture. the tobacco companies are now trying to introduce shorter cigarettes at the old prices to attract back the regular customers (while the beedi makers have launched filter-beedis to attract them). as a libertarian i believe nothing should be BANNED but anything detrimental to society, like tobacco, should be made prohibitively expensive. that serves the end.
