Post by Marathadi-Saamiyaar Tue Oct 06, 2015 1:26 pm

...is everyone's right... If people thought it is not right - for religious, economic, or environment reasons, they can impose a hefty "Gau Tax" like they do on Cigarettes and alcohol. The hefty Gau tax can be similar to Jizziya and and very high so that if at all anyone wants to eat they better pay.

This is a brilliant idea and hope Modi ji takes note of this post.

If the boar is the varaha avatar of Vishnu why is it not holy? How come the people who object to the slaughtering of cows turn a blind eye to pigs?

I admire iSlam on this point. They consider everyone and everything killable - Cows, camels, pigs, infidels, kafirs, chicken and goats.

Cattle is not grown in India as a food. Cow slaughter is illegal in most parts of India, and since a cow is more profitable from milk than as meat, no farmer will sell a cow unless it is of zero economic value. So that takes care of your farmers, food security and agricultural economics.

As for individuals interested in healthy eating, beef-eating is none of their fucking business anyway!

hahahahahahaah! what an astute observation!!!!

i googled. it is not that chickens were not around in antiquity (in india). puzzling why they don't appear in our myths and folk lore. maybe they were not domesticated (sounds far fetched) or, if domesticated, not consumed (but no proscription). the hindi murg or murgi is derived from farsi (no prakrit/sanskrit name? puzzling!). as i have stated earlier, aristocratic hindu bengalis did not consume chicken (mucholmander khaba -- muslim food) till recently.

They do appear in later texts like the puranas. Miscellaneous deities ("Devi" in one purana, Kartikeya in another) are depicted as holding (of all things), a kukkuta or cock in one of their many arms.

I also recall some story of Krishna killing a chicken, but can't find any reference. Will search some more.

Poor Lord Karthikeya ... even with this ad, he hasn't been able to stop "rooster" fights in TN villages where Murugan temples abound.

Those movie-poster feeding cows have graduated to eating garbage from dumps these days. That's a repulsive sight in a country replete with flag-wavers of cow worship.

Varaha is also worshipped by the "enlightened". Dog, rat, snake, elephant, lion, tiger, etc., etc., are all worshipped. That is what makes you a Kafir ("sarvam Vishnu mayam jagat", "sarvam khalvidam Brahma").

Cow is used as a metaphor for kamadhenu. To understand Kamadhenu, one should understand the basics of Hinduism.
