Only Upps Aunty was very troubled by this judicial stance. She called it anti-Muslim. But that may be because she is one of Abdullahi's many wives, and would therefore have a very different PoV compared to women who are (or want to be) the only wife.

selective implementation of the law is not acceptable. Genuine secularism means that marriage laws should be uniform. But why should secularists be taunted by a blatantly communal person like Vakavaka when a judge takes a hard secular line?
