philosophy books - rashmun to note
recommendations from e.j.m.ers:
http://www.econjobrumors.com/topic/what-are-philosophy-books-that-every-educated-person-should-read
they reflect european taste, because about 50% of e.j.m.ers are europeans, and there aren't many american philosophers.
I once tried reading kant's "critique of pure reason." I'm afraid I can't say much more.

thank you swapna. i have an inherent dislike for german philosophers like Kant because they are so very obscure. Kant was once asked why he did not include examples in his book to illustrate the points he was making. he replied that this would have made his book too long.
i am very fond of french philosophers particularly 18th century french philosophers (Rousseau, Voltaire, Diderot, D'Holbach et al) precisely for this reason (because of 'the Gallic disdain for obscurity').

Best of luck tonight you both Thomas/Munmun.
Or is it Munmum/Thomas?
What the heck... You can swap positions after whoever goes (in) first.
