Now it all makes perfect sense...
why our great hindu ancestors and our own grandparents used firewood, coal-fired stoves to cook food.
The advantages of slow cooking is all well established in our vedas and scriptures.
High time we get back to firewood/coal stoves, eat well and bicycle to work, return and hv the left over food and go to sleep at 8 PM after sunset. This should solve most of India's fuel, energy, traffic, water, and housing problems.

Re: i'm buying a crock pot or slow cooker...
when i first read that comment, I had no idea what the "1.6 billion" referred to; it might be about slow cooking in a crock pot, saving energy by using a crock pot, saving energy by going to bed at 8:00 pm, or doing both, and marveling at how much total energy could be saved by the "1.6 billion" people of india.garam_kuta wrote:Marathadi-Saamiyaar wrote:brie wrote:...need dishes/recipes ideas, veg and non veg (no beef/pork) ... preferably indian dishes but non indian too welcome.

but the difficulty here is that india's population is currently only about 1.25 billion, and may never attain a level as high as 1.6 billion. on the other hand, could 1.6 billion be india's average energy consumption rate in kwh per day?
then I thought that the poster was using some arcane idiom from illiterate, matunga or santa monica brahmin thamizh - illiterate, because the matunga and santa monica thamizh brahmins never learnt proper thamizh, only the unique, distorted version of thamizh spoken in thamizh brahmin homes far away from mylapore.
in other words, I still don't understand what the "1.6 billion" means, but guess that it's a manifestation of a thamizh-american's ignorance of the most important statistic describing india.
would the brahmin hot dog like to elucidate? would the gowNDer or the free energy minimizer like to clarify?

(a) why do you think this has anything to do with thamizh brahmin speak?
(b) why do you think any of us have any more understanding of saamiyar's blather than you?
added later: i see now that it is not saamiyar but hot dog who posted that. i understand even less of what hot dog posts. he is often completely inscrutable.
added even later: my best guess of hot dog's cryptic comment. he is referring to saamiyar's original recommendation for people to go to bed at 8 PM, and then wonders about the potential ramifications -- excessive copulation leading to a population explosion exceeding the incorrect estimate he makes of the current population, namely 1.6 billion.

I stand corrected on '...already 1.6 billion.. it's a projection that I read sometime ago and got mixed up with.. Nevertheless hahaha@ ..not attaining 1.6 billion - just because you may not contribute , it ain't gonna stop

I have a hunch... that you sell Lotas for a living and are here on SuCH to market your lota company.
Or... you want to setup a Lota Franchise with an Indian company.

if my english sucks, many people would have criticized it harshly over the many years I've been here, gently suggesting amendments to their.posts. and if I had plagiarized anything, I would have been attacked for that too. but no such thing has happened. so you can go suck an egg; and if that's not enough, you can fcuk your 400-word - note the hyphen - essay.brie wrote:swapna wrote:english fail!
