why our great hindu ancestors and our own grandparents used firewood, coal-fired stoves to cook food.

The advantages of slow cooking is all well established in our vedas and scriptures.

High time we get back to firewood/coal stoves, eat well and bicycle to work, return and hv the left over food and go to sleep at 8 PM after sunset. This should solve most of India's fuel, energy, traffic, water, and housing problems.

when i first read that comment, I had no idea what the "1.6 billion" referred to; it might be about slow cooking in a crock pot, saving energy by using a crock pot, saving energy by going to bed at 8:00 pm, or doing both, and marveling at how much total energy could be saved by the "1.6 billion" people of india.

but the difficulty here is that india's population is currently only about 1.25 billion, and may never attain a level as high as 1.6 billion. on the other hand, could 1.6 billion be india's average energy consumption rate in kwh per day?

then I thought that the poster was using some arcane idiom from illiterate, matunga or santa monica brahmin thamizh - illiterate, because the matunga and santa monica thamizh brahmins never learnt proper thamizh, only the unique, distorted version of thamizh spoken in thamizh brahmin homes far away from mylapore.
