why not buy conoco philips at 42, with 6% dividend yield I say. sounds like a safe play once current hysteria dies out.

Absolutely. Personally, I dont buy any stock with negative EPS. But for oil, I just started a position in my VG account for Energy Index Fund, with auto investing twice a month for 2016. Up or down, regularly invest in oil this year to dollar cost average and take the urge to time the decision/emotions out. The sector is down, and worth playing.
