tu hai to...

Re: tu hai to...
Since you seem to be nostalgic these days and enjoying old songs, here is a song ("chal meri gadiye") from a very old / 1953 movie 'ek do teen' (it was shot in our area, H.P., and by one of the relatives, director / producer, on wife's side)
Re: tu hai to...
never heard this song, and i believe never watched this movie or heard of it either. not sure if it was ever aired on doordarshan. is from the time before my mom went to college, so makes sense hehe. i mean she watched most movies when in college, and if she had watched this one, sooner or later she may have talked about this movie plot.
nice to know about your relative. i don't have any relative who's in movies... i used to think i would love to be an extra in a movie, but upon self-introspection... when working in new york city, my office was next to a couple of studios, and they would sometimes barricade roads to shoot movie scenes. didn't even bother to stay back and watch, like ever. so i guess i don't really care to do anything in movies, but still i sometimes fantasize to be one of the wedding guests in like one of yash chora or karan johar movies. let's see, it's in my bucket list. maybe one day i will be crazy enough to stalk movie sets ...

I heard about this movie ("ek do teen") long ago, when I was still in school... people would talk about everyone from the village (men usually) running to watch movie-shooting in the nearby town. Btw, I happen to watch it only recently, on Youtube -- it's a nice comedy, with educational and entertaining theme. As for the producer / director of movie, Roop K. Shorey (not a close relative), he was the uncle (chaacha) of one of my co-brother (husband of one of the sisters of my wife).
Re: tu hai to...
that's a close enough relation...
back when i was just out of high school, there was a movie shoot in my city, but not very big stars... i would actually mock people who went to see the shooting. it was shot in one of the schools, and a friend of mine had just graduated from it. he went to see it, and was hoping he will probably be in the backdrop of one of the dance shots. i mocked him to death on his 'excitement'... sounded pretty lame to me... oh god i was so stuck up. guess now i will cheer up such a person.
but anyway, the very next year i was in mumbai, and told my host family that i want to see a movie studio. so we all got in a car and decided to go somewhere, forgetting what it was called, but was a good drive outside of south mumbai. there was a kid in the car who thought shooting meant real shooting, guns and all, and was crying almost all the way that he doesn't want to be shot. so we were laughing at him and trying to explain to him what shooting meant in this context.
so anyway, we reached there, and to our excitement some movie shooting was going on. To my disappointment though, it was shilpa shirodkar, playing the role of some dacoit. wearing all black and half covering her face with a black scarf. She kept glancing at us once in a while, but none of us came forward to get an autograph. She was still very new then, and sorta looked nervous.
so anyway, the six year old finally mustered the courage to come inside the studio. And guess what scene it was - she raised her arms and shot a gun! BANG.. god knows what kinda fake gun it, but the sound was for real, loud and echoing. the kid began bawling saying we lied to him. this WAS shooting.
so we all rushed out and began the torturous 2-3 hour drive back home. lol though.
