Shahjahanpur: At a time when communal incidents are being reported from across UP, Shahjahanpur offers a picture of communal harmony. The work of constructing a temple inside the collectorate premises was given to two Muslim artists, who have now completed it.
Local residents said it was heartening to see two Muslim youths, Mohammed Yaseen and Sajid Khan, both of whom belong to Kichcha (Udham Singh Nagar) in Uttarakhand work inside the temple even as they were fasting for Ramzan.
"Every time they entered the temple, they touched the feet of goddess Durga before starting their work," said Rajeev Gupta, a local who donated Rs 1 lakh for the renovation of the temple...

Mohammed Yaseen, 25, told TOI, "I have worked in many mosques and temples and I have not felt any difference. We have respect for all the religions because religion is directly attached to the sentiments of a human being.
