Madhya Pradesh: Christian priest is stripped, thrashed and tied to a tree by Hindutva Chaddis. Later, chaddified cops make an arrest--of the priest.
BHOPAL: A Christian priest and his companion were allegedly abducted and assaulted by Bajrang Dal workers.
The incident occurred in Rewa in far Eastern part of Madhya Pradesh.
The priest, Kamal Kori, and his companion were accused of conversions to Christianity and were dragged to the forest by nearly two dozen persons.
Kori had gone to Gadra on a motorcycle when he was surrounded, allegedly stripped and taken away.
The assailants tied the priest and his companion to the tree, where they were brutally beaten up. The attackers were upset that the the priest was conducting prayers at the house of a local resident in Mauganj.
Later, the Bajrang Dal workers left the forest, abandoning the duo. The victim's kin had informed the police. The police personnel searched and found the duo tied to the tree in the night.
They rescued them. Kori has said that the allegations of forcible conversions are totally false and right-wing groups are targeting them. The police have registered a case in this regard. More than a dozen persons associated with Bajrang Dal have been named in the FIR.
Surprisingly, after the incident, priest was booked too on the complaint of a person that he was involved in illegal religious conversion. The priest was arrested and sent to judicial custody. However, no Bajrang Dal worker has been arrested so far.

BHOPAL: A pastor and his friend were abducted, stripped, tied up and thrashed allegedly by about 25 Bajrang Dal activists+ in Madhya Pradesh's Rewa on Thursday night as they suspected the two were involved in forced religious conversion+ .
A pastor is an ordained leader of a Christian congregation. Police later rescued the duo, pastor Ramlal Kori and his friend Nandlal Kori, from Gadra Mohalla of Pahadi village in Mauganj police station area, and admitted them to a hospital.
About 13 people, identified so far, were booked. No one from Bajrang Dal, which has in the past faced allegations of rioting and violence against religious minorities, has been arrested yet. However, on a complaint from Bajrang Dal, the youth wing of Vishwa Hindu Parishad, the pastor and his friend were booked for forced religious conversions, arrested and presented before a court which sent them in judicial custody.
Ramlal and Nandlal were performing a religious ceremony in a house, when around 25 people led by one Arvind Tiwari reached there, police said.
