Indian Olympic contingent failed to make a mark at the Rio 2016 Olympics. But some of the scenes from Brazil not only saw the athletes embarrassed, but also crying for help. OP Jaisha, who finished 89th in Rio Olympics women’s marathon event with a timing of 2:47:19, collapsed after reaching the final mark. She was immediately taken over to the nearest medical facility.

Jaisha’s coach Nikolai Snesarev also got in altercation with some Rio officials which left him at a local police detention center.

So what led to such an incident? Jaisha claimed that the Indian officials did not provide her with water nor energy drinks, despite “designated stations” were given to the country’s officials.

“It was very hot there. The competition was at 9am, I ran in scorching heat. There was no water for us, neither recovery drinks nor food. Only once in 8kms did we get water (from the Rio organisers) which did not help at all. All the countries had their stalls at every 2kms but our country’s stall was empty,” OP Jaisha told Times of India.
