which television channel are you watching the first Presidential debate on? I am watching CNN right now.

Re: Presidential Debate question
I am watching it on ABCnews. It is kind of boring and no aggressive enough arguments. I am waiting/hoping for one of them to lose temper and .... and make the debate more interesting/dramatic...

Re: Presidential Debate question
while Hillary is no John Kennedy, Trump is working it like a street brawl. Repeating inane generalities and horrible english. He thinks emphasis an idea means repeating the nonsensical sentence. He cannot explain an Idea. He fails to advance a line of argument with coherent sequence of sentences. All questions at some point return to same meaningless generalities.
Hillary on the other hand cannot take an idea and explain it simple human terms. There is not one example where viewers can remember a Hillary policy as helpful to them individually.

Re: Presidential Debate question
Trump supporters probably are happy that he survived the debate. Hillary looked good when she just laughed off Trump's boast about his temperament. She kept her cool throughout. Trump's incoherent but repeated accusations may have made some of wavering supporters happy.
What about undecided? I doubt if any undecided are really independent or undecided in this election cycle. I have a feeling most of them are waiting for an excuse to move to Trump side. Each day, Hillary fails to seal the deal, Trump inches close to victory.

Re: Presidential Debate question
Both did bad. None of them is presidential material. Hillary's was mostly well prepared, sweet talk of a politician before elections. One can give a lot of discount to what she claims she's going to do. As Trump taunted, why hasn't she done all this for the past 30 yrs? Trump started off very strong as finance is his forte. He went downhill from there though. Like a fool, he took all the baits that Hillary threw at him and went on a defensive. He was incoherent, went off tanget into irrelevant stuff and repeated himself in bad english. But in the end, Hillary seemed small when she attacked him personally and Trump desisted from doing the same and pointed out to the millions of dollars Hillary was spending on negative ads attacking Trump. That's disgusting!
We have such a terrible choice of candidates this time.
My take: Feel like voting for Jill Stein.

Re: Presidential Debate question
Real Trump showed up lastnight. Trump's dictionary doesn't contain a word called "humble" or any synonyms of that word. Once again, it was proved that it doesn't take much for World leaders to get under President Trump's skin, it wouldn't take much for them to get Trump behave like a street thug.

Self certifying shallow brain daruwala thinks meaningless insults makes him superior. When he gets off his superiority complex, he may understand normal conversation.

Lol!! You never understood why Modi was elected, will never understand why people are willing to vote for the orange monkey. You think others are delusional. Hello Max and Everyone!
It is interesting you say that. When I was in India a few months ago, they were very closely following (not in general terms, but with specifics) this Presidential Election, especially my women relatives and friends (who are usually not into political discussions).
*It was surprising to see ALL of them be more supportive of Trump than Hillary. The men were more skeptical and diverse in their humorous opinions!
The reasons were wide ranging..but many of them indicated that the "image of the majesty" of the US has been diminished, and Trump wants to recapture the "Glory" of the Old USA. "Make America Great Again". One even said, Hillary was weak, because she came to meet Jayalalitha and was made to wait..another one was quite silly and said, because he married "beautiful women" (beauty is in the beholder's eyes aside!)
*I see it as the "MGR" factor-teflon included..someone who is enormously lucky, "looks superior" than others, not really a good orator, but appears charismatic, wealthy and powerful (except MGR always made sure - he was the "good guy"..glorified women and motherhood!) while Trump seems to trash talk women..but, nothing sticks!
Have also heard women in the US also echo what Donald says "Hillary does not look Presidential, and does not have the stamina"..which is quite disappointing. I guess most of us have been so hard on Hillary for decades, diminishing who she is as a person (including me, when she ran against Pres. Obama)..it is so difficult for her to be impressive-capture that adoration/excitement..men politicians can take for granted.
I really hope she wins!

hello maria -- the US has been diminished? i am amazed! i think president obama has elevated the US's stock after the drubbing it took during the eight years of damage inflicted by dubya. i cannot understand what your indian relatives mean by the US's majesty has been diminished. i too hope she pulls through.

india has fallen long back and europe has fallen now. the only bastion left is the US. maybe, they don't want their kids and relatives and future generations to feel unsafe even in the US. trump may be all talk and no action but if shrillery wins, you know who will be the most powerful person in the administration, don't you?

Re: Presidential Debate question
Trump talked about the devastation caused by NAFTA and how Hillary, a vehement supporter of it and other trade agreements detrimental to American workers has only recently changed her tune regarding the topic. I think that would have resonated with rust belt/swing state voters (if they still have TVs and watched the debate). The media is Hitlery's lapdog and intellectuals are engaged in a pissing contest to bash Trump as badly as they can but it is the swing states which decide the Presidential elections and Trump may have an edge there.
Voters know Trump is a dbag but voting for him is the only way to stick it to the arrogant, corrupt, entitled Hitlery. This election isn't about smart voters using their intellectual prowess to pick the most eligible candidate. It is about which candidate can con the voters into making an emotional decision devoid of any critical thinking.

Globally, the last decade has been a disaster for US' standing as the sole superpower. The disastrous invasion of Iraq was only the starting point. That was of course a mess not of Obama's making.
However, his premature withdrawal and subsequent meddling in the middle-east to engineer regime changes all around - including the ongoing, ill-advised attempt to dislodge Bashar Al Assad - and unwillingness to clean up the resultant chaos and violence are all of his own making and have severely dented America's image in that part of the world. If only Trump was not such a shallow buffoon, he could have built a strong case that Obama was instrumental in the rise of Isis.
Afghanistan remains a mess, with the Taliban able to strike at will and the US showing absolutely no will to cut off their flow of funds and weaponry from across the borders.
Somehow, with his intellectual aloofness and inward focus, the man managed to alienate even traditional friends like Israel and Saudi Arabia and become universally hated in the Middle East.
China's open flouting of US power in the Pacific and the absence of any response from the US has caused allies in Asia to also wonder about America's commitment to their safety, not helped by Trump's ugly rhetoric of the last few months.
In Europe, Russia is invading countries at will, regardless of NATO and the US, severely denting the Baltic countries' confidence in their allies coming to the rescue in the event of a Russian military adventure. Putin is feared more today than Obama is respected. Brexit is proceeding despite Obama's counsel against isolationism.
So ya, it is not a pretty picture for the USA anywhere in the world. Its standing is severely diminished across the world, and most of this has happened on Obama's watch. This is not to suggest that Trump is the answer. That buffoon will only hasten the USA's demise as a superpower.

Re: Presidential Debate question
I beg to differ. Economies of China, Japan, South Korea and India will implode without their exports to US. As for being military power, US has always been braggadocious (word of the week) about their capabilities, it didn't matter to them that they got their asses whipped in Vietnam war. CIA, indirectly, created the Kashmir mess with their gorilla tactics; from the end of cold war to Iraq war, they were essentially filling the void of Russia as a rogue nation (world's reaction to gulf war (90) was - US is as much rogue nation as Iraq). I would prefer the present day US (diminished or not) over the US of Reagans and (both) Bushes, any-day.Merlot Daruwala wrote:

Looks like psychological projection in play here, considering the numbers of posts you have against Obama. Not here to argue any further. Your choice to vote for Trump is your preference of course.
