There is no Constitutional provision or Federal law that requires Electors to vote according to the results of the popular vote in their states... No Elector has ever been prosecuted for failing to vote as pledged.

Throughout our history as a nation, more than 99 percent of Electors have voted as pledged.

Some states that voted narrowly for Trump do not have any laws against faithless electors: Arizona, Pennsylvania, Georgia. My guess is the GOP picked electors in those states who are loyal to Trump and they won't ditch him.

Regardless, I think this is a bad idea. It undermines the democratic system. I am not going to sign the petition. By all indications, Trump won fair and square, and he will be our president.

that they did. i debated if i should sign it or not. nothing will come out of it. then i figured, if there's a due process, then why not knock that door.
