Does upbringing matter? Empty Does upbringing matter?

Consider a person whose father is a rationalist hindu so that he (the father) has a poor opinion of the caste system and also of the treatment meted out to widows historically in hinduism. Consider now also that this person (the son) was beaten by his father to the extent that he complained about the beatings in an online message board.

In the event that the son is a religious hindu, isn't it natural for him to start showering abuses on rationalist hindus who criticize certain aspects of hinduism while praising other features of this great religion? Also, what does this tell us about the son's attitude towards his father? For instance, when he uses the term 'jehadi' for rationalist hindus, is he indirectly also abusing his own father?

Consider now another person. His uncle is a fraudulent priest who has no proper knowledge of sanskrit, does not chant mantras properly but yet goes around cheating people by performing hindu rituals and collecting daksinas. The guy is close to his uncle--so close that the uncle has explained his fraud to the guy.

Isn't it natural for this guy to use fraudulent tricks when he has a strong disagreement with someone?
