Thapar says it makes economic sense to keep mechanized abattoirs open even though shutting them down was a poll campaign pledge of the chaddis. Also, according to Thapar, Adityanath's poll campaign promise that all farmer loans in UP would be waived would bankrupt the state. So these two poll campaign promises would have to be unfulfilled if the state is to progress.
