Chaos in Uttar Pradesh as Chaddi criminals go on the rampage
AGRA: Hours after new state DGP Sulkhan Singh warned to take action against all those who disobey law or indulge in vigilantism in the name of gau raksha, a group of people belonging to right wing outfits - including VHP, Bajrang Dal, Hindu Yuva Vahini - and workers of BJP attacked and stone-pelted police in Fatehpur Sikri and allegedly slapped deputy superintendent of police Ravikant Parashar.
The attack took place on Saturday afternoon, after the right wing groups gheraoed Fatehpur Sikri police station and demanded to revoke the FIR filed against their men for assaulting and robbing away cash from a vegetable vendor of other community.
According to eyewitnesses of the incident, a group comprising Hemant Tiwari, BJP Kirawali tehsil coordinator, Udayvir (BJP partyworker), Jagmohan Chahar (VHP student leader), Omi Tikri (Gua rakshak pramukh), Sagar Chaudhary (VHP Agra district coordinator), Sanju sarpanch and 50 other men were staging protest against Fatehpur Sikri station officer Vinod Kumar Yadav, after he filed complaint against Sagar Chaudhary's relative and nine other men for robbing Mobin on Friday night.
"The right wing men were demanding removal of SO and filing case against Mobin for extorting money. They claimed due to putting complete ban on meat shop in the area which were being run by minority community, the police was favouring the other side," said source.
"When circle officer and DSP Ravikant Parashar intervened to calm down the situation, one of the members from the group slapped the officer, after which police resorted to lathicharge. From other side, the right wing men pelted stone on police," he added.
