The early muslim invaders into India can be thought of as being looters and plunderers, but it would be a mistake to attach a religious label on them. Timur (Tamerlane) had entered into India, right up to Delhi. Having relieved Delhi of all its wealth, and after killing many people, he returned to his homeland in central Asia. But it should not be forgotten that before his invasion into India, Timur had invaded present day Iraq and had plundered and looted (and killed in) Baghdad in much the same manner he looted Delhi. (Timur later went on an invasion of China, but died on the way.)

Conflating people like Timur and Mahmud of Ghazni with Indian kings like Akbar and Jahangir is an old Chaddi trick. Do not fall for it.
