Looks like the French had no interest in electing a person who'd be Putin's cock-holster unlike the Americans. The Dutch, and now the French have roundly rejected right wing populism. If Merkel wins in Germany, that'll leave only the US as a country willing to countenance a stooge of Putin as their leader.

Blindly supporting a medieval barbaric religion, which doesn't reform, and which separates humanity as 'us vs them', the 'us believers vs them kafirs' and tries to turn the whole of humanity into the believers of their kind or vanquish the other will not last long. Soon, the people of France and Europe will be tired to live among people who hold such beliefs. 
Let Merkel win, let her bring in more people from the middle east, let the liberal culture of their country change, and then they will realize. It's only a matter of time. 

Until then, be scared of the Putin boogieman.
