Caring for animals.......
......used to be a tradition in India that was rooted in culture. After barbarians came barging in, the outlook towards animals has changed. Here is a French woman who loves a stray dog she found in Delhi. She went through a lot of trouble to take her to France. These days, while Indians abuse animals, Europeans genuinely love theirs. Aurangajeb sucks.....

Yeah. If not for the Vedic way of worship, Sarama (nicely described in Rg Veda) would have been worshiped as a mother in Hinduism like Kamadhenu.
Modern day Sikularists are like the Asura who stole the cows (that Sarama helps in finding).
Remember that the 4 Vedas are metaphorically shown as 4 dogs next to Dattatreya.

Hellsangel: Janamejaya's foolishness was properly exposed. Sarama curses him and he goes begging for help......
.....Some people are scared of dogs because there are two dogs associated with Yama. This is foolish (and ignorant).

Re: Caring for animals.......
Mahabharata starts with the episode of a dog and end with the episode of a dog. It starts with the injustice done to a dog, the hitting of a dog for no reason, his mom Sarama, protesting against it and cursing the king.
Mahabharata ends with a dog again, when the dog follows Yudhistira to the footsteps of heaven, the devas denying its entry, Yudhistira fighting for its right to enter the heaven along with him and finally being obliged. Dharma is established.
Equality and respect for all creatures.
