Students at IIT-Madras hold beef festival to protest cattle slaughter ban
Students at IIT-Madras held a beef festival inside the campus to protest against a central government rule that bans the sale of cows for slaughter at animal markets.
The protest on Sunday evening saw 70-80 students and food was brought from outside to be distributed to the participants.
Students said it was a spontaneous gesture from many people in campus who opposed the notification and not held under any banner.
“It is a democratic right of ours to have a choice of food,” said Abhinav Surya, a final year student.

Shame shame on protesting iit students. Why do not they make protest against people doing cruelty on living animals (cows, bulls, sheeps, goats, chickens, ect.)?

You seem to be a new communal chaddi on this forum. Aurangajeb, the great kafir lingam worshiping king of India, advised people to eat cows. Being a kafir, realize that your views are only 1/2 as valid as those of the pieceful followers of Aurangajeb......kaRuppayya wrote:Shame shame on protesting iit students. Give credit to India's Hindu majority population, for allowing such things to take place.Rashmun wrote:Students at IIT-Madras held a beef festival inside the campus to protest against a central government rule that bans the sale of cows for slaughter at animal markets.

Dadheechi tries to advise Daksha against nir-eeshwara yaaga but the latter won't listen to him. Dadheechi describes what will happen to Daksha if he proceeds with the yaaga. In the end, Daksha pays for his bad behavior. Aurangazeb's sishya will face the same fate........Seva Lamberdar wrote:Give credit to India's Hindu majority population, for allowing such things to take place.Rashmun wrote:Students at IIT-Madras held a beef festival inside the campus to protest against a central government rule that bans the sale of cows for slaughter at animal markets.

Re: Students at IIT-Madras hold beef festival to protest cattle slaughter ban
A group of students at IIT-Madras allegedly thrashed on Tuesday a PhD scholar who had participated in a campus beef festival held to protest the central government’s ban on sale of cattle for slaughter at animal markets.
The organiser of the festival at the prestigious institution told HT that six to seven students surrounded Aerospace engineering PhD student R Sooraj during lunch time at a hostel canteen on Tuesday and attacked him.
Sooraj’s right eye was seriously damaged and he was rushed to the hospital, said Abhinav Surya, a final year mechanical engineering student who organised the beef festival...
A group of 70 to 80 students held the beef festivalon Sunday evening to demonstrate against the Centre’s notification and underline that they had a right to choose their own food.
The beef fest echoed with similar protests in other parts of the country, including neighbouring Kerala, against the controversial rule that many say hurts millions of poor farmers and mostly Muslim and Dalit meat traders.
The states of Kerala and West Bengal have rejected the notification and called it a violation of India’s federal structure.

Can't they call it something else? Beef festival just sounds horrible. A festival to celebrate the slaughter of animals. How about festival for food choice or something like that?

I saw a video footage of the IIT Madras episode. Those guys were not just eating; they made a spectacle of it asking the cameraman to take a close shot of what they were gulping. They also made gestures that they were thoroughly enjoying the whole thing. It was all deliberate. The "right-wing" students beating up on a beef eater was also wrong. Looks like he was really trashed. Unfortunately, neither the cow nor the buffalo was given a chance to moo on what all this means to them.Hellsangel wrote:MaxEntropy_Man wrote:Can't they call it something else?
